Objective
  My goal is to help others meet their goals.  My greatest talents are related to working with cooperative people to: identify opportunities; brainstorm & develop new concepts; generate ideas for novel solutions to problems; and, prepare plans-of-action for detailed development and implementation.   

  

Concept development experience

Lead the development of a concept design of a sprayer chassis and gave advice to R&D personnel as they built a prototype.  Brainstormed a novel solution to a dangerous spring system on a piece of equipment.  Commissioned by companies to develop a wide range of concept ideas ranging from planting seed by airplane, to identifying uses for new types of material handling containers, to evaluation of a new way for processing raw materials that could be used in food, cosmetic, nutriceutical and pharmaceutical products.

  

Professional engineering experience 

Lead the following types of projects:

Agricultural equipment.  Designed and made modifications to fertilizer spreaders and pneumatic applicators.  Designed several pieces of tillage equipment.  Dozens of design and design modification projects on products ranging from planters, to harvesters, to storage structures.

Chassis design for over-the-road & off-the-road equipment.  Modified truck and semi-trailer chassis.  Designed heavy-duty chassis for custom fertilizer application.  Concept design of sprayer chassis.

Bulk material handling equipment.  Designed self-loading beds for moving cotton modules; the beds were mounted on modified truck and semi-trailer chassis.  Designed fertilizer tenders, conveyors and blenders.

Construction & industrial equipment.  Rollover protective structure.  Cab and engine enclosure.  Bucket & lift arm design.  Fork & mast design.  Design of controls and human factors engineering. 

  

Business administration experience

 

Owner/manager of consulting businesses with 1 to 4 employees.  Manager of Engineering and R&D with a staff of 6 to 12 employees for a manufacturer that had 80 to 120 employees total.  Product and Engineering Manager with a staff of 2 to 3 employees for a manufacturer who had approximately 40 employees total.  Project Leader with a staff of 3 to 6 in an engineering and R&D organization with over 100 employees total.  Project Engineer in a division of a DOW 30 company.

  

Education

 

BS & MS degrees in Agricultural Engineering from NDSU (North Dakota State University, Fargo, ND).  Post-graduate work in Business Administration from Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio and in Business Economics from NDSU.

  

Hobbies & interests
  Reading.  Travel by tour bus.  Technical analysis of commodities and stocks.  Internet web site development.
